Top 10 Nail Polishes

Something you may or may not know about me is I am a complete nail polish addict. It's becoming a bit of a problem really, mainly because the storage rack I have is slowly running out of space.

See! So I thought considering I have all these polishes yet I always seem to reach for the same ones, why not do a top 10 nail polish post. So without further a do, I present to you, (in no particular order, that would be too difficult!) my top 10 nail polishes.

Essie, Hard To Get

This colour is a gorgeous, milky, baby Pink. It's not too garish a Pink for every day wear, but not so muted it looks White.

Essie, Jelly Apple

This is a delicious Raspberry Red which I just think is the kind of colour that suits everyone. The perfect colour to do matching lips with; and if you're lucky enough, matching soles!

China Glaze, Midnight Ride

I love this gorgeous, vampy Purple. I couldn't get the lighting right in the picture to show it to it's full potential, but the purple micro shimmer is to die for.

Essie, Mint Candy Apple

Everyone's favourite Essie pastel colour. It's a beautiful pale mint Green with a nice cream finish to it. Absolutely gorgeous for spring.

China Glaze, Shocking Pink

Everything about this polish screams summer holiday to me. It's like a tropical punch, neon Pink colour and looks absolutely stunning with a tan.

China Glaze, High Maintenance

My Aunty likes to refer to this colour as 'Slapper Red'! Despite this we both adore the colour, which is great on toes.

Essie, Lilacism

The perfect spring/summer Lilac. Another favourite from Essie and another that looks best with a tan.

China Glaze, Purple Panic

Another from the China Glaze Neon collection, which I believe is still available. My friend recommended this to me and it's now a firm favourite. It's a bright Barbie Fuchsia and actually has a matte finish, I just put a top coat over for the photo. I love it matte or glossy and it's a polish you will always get complimented on.

Color Club, Revvvolution

Ok, this picture really doesn't do this polish justice. It's a sort of Grey colour with micro shimmer in every colour of the rainbow. This looks amazing under artificial light and also with a matte top coat.

OPI, Monsooner or Later

A new favourite of mine. I had been looking for a Coral Red for a while and while in the photo this looks more post box Red it is more Orange based in the flesh. It's a lovely bright eye catching colour that remains quite classic looking.

Well that was a lot harder than I thought it would be. There were so many others I would love to have included, but out of my collection these truly are the ones I use most. I still have a bit of room in my storage so I suppose i will just HAVE to fill it really won't I?!

January Lust List

So it may well be nearing the end of January but never the less, here is January's Lust List...

• Revlon Lip Butters - They've been causing a stir across the pond and I'm itching to try them.
• OPI "Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?" from the Holland Collection. - Just yum!
• Hourglass Veil Primer - I rarely use primers but this one definitely needs purchasing.
• Rodial Glamtox Serum - My skin needs a Post-Christmas boost.

Rainbow Connection

Good evening lovelies.
I know I have raved about OPI's Rainbow Connection but I have yet to give you a NOTD.
So this is exactly what this is!
It took me about 3 coats to create this 'solid' glitter affect and I had to use 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat, as I'm a stickler for smooth nails. Does anyone else have that strange, almost fear of nails catching on their clothes, be it a chipped nail or glitter polish? It is literally like nails down a chalkboard to me.


Without further ado I give you... Rainbow Connection...

Isn't it beautiful? I feel very Christmassy with this polish on and have been given plenty of compliments, which we all know is the sign of a good nail polish.

What nail polish is making you feel Christmassy? I am, as always, on the lookout for more!

Winter Warmers

I've said it before, I'm not a winter kind of girl. Given the choice I would bed down and hibernate all winter, like some of our wiser mammal friends. I hate the shorter days, I hate the way the weather affects my skin and lips and I HATE having to wear a coat. BAH HUMBUG!

But noone can deny that winter time (specifically Christmas) is when the prettiest of limited edition beauty treasures arrive. Sparkling, shining and ready to lure you into believing you NEED it in your Christmas stocking.

And noone could offer a finer example than China Glaze with their "Let It Snow" collection. Twinkle Lights being the stand colour for me, although interestingly similar to Rainbow Connection from the OPI Muppets collection. From what I can see from pictures, Rainbow Connection has larger pieces of glitter which could possibly make a solid glitter nail slightly easier to achieve. I also like the look of Poinsettia from the "Let It Snow" collection since I've got a new found obsession with bright or blood reds (Or "Slapper Red" as my Aunty likes to call it).

Shu Uemura also offered a very short teaser video of their "Wong Kar Wai Holiday 2011" Collection. All the gold glitter makes me feel all Christmassy...



The collection is said to contain 2 different sets of limited edition lashes along with a glitter mascara and various other sparklies!

So have I made myself clear on this post?... My name is Ruth and I have a glitter addiction!

Sparkles

As the cold, dark nights roll in I'm starting to give in to winter. I did put up a bit of a fight at first, as did the weather (anyone not from the UK we had sunshine and 29c weather last weekend). I think what might have pushed me over the edge was All I Want For Christmas turning up on my iPod when I had it on shuffle. I'm not gonna lie, I left it on and had a little christmassy jig!

Anyway, so with winter comes glitter and sparkly things and as a magpie, these are two things I am drawn to. I only accidentally dropped in at Sally's Beauty supplies and spied the new China Glaze "Metro" collection. I have to say I found the collection quite underwhelming except "CG In The City" which I had to have. It's a glitter polish which seems to be mainly silver but I think I see some purple glitter in it as well.

I also saw in the bargain bin they had OPI "The Colour To Watch" from last Autumn's Swiss Collection and I thought the two would go so well together... So that's only what i've bloomin' well gone and done!

From the swatches I've seen I would definitely say "CG In The City" needs something under it as it's quite thin and doesn't seem to be a polish you can build into a solid glitter.
